In the beginning, Scarlett was browsing an online dating site when she spotted an intriguing profile that made her pause.
A few messages turned into playful back-and-forths—rap battles, haiku showdowns, and meme wars that usually ended with Scarlett claiming victory.
After the mustache comment kicked things up a notch, conversation soon moved from short replies to novel-length texts and hours-long phone calls, and before long they agreed to meet in person.
Their first in-person week brought both joy and sorrow: Scarlett’s dog Rhett passed away unexpectedly, and Trey showed up at the emergency room that night—an early sign of the care and steadiness that would define their relationship. As months passed they became inseparable, blending routines, rituals, and weekend adventures. Sunsets at the river beside Trey's house were a staple in their dating life.
Scarlett drove to South Carolina to adopt Coco Carolina Symone Bradison, and soon the whole crew—Scarlett, Trey, Gizmo, and Coco—made a home together in the cozy cottage by the Chattahoochee River.
A casual ring-shopping trip turned into something unforgettable when Trey went back later to upgrade the center stone to the Alexandrite Scarlett had admired.
The following January, Trey chose the most romantic setting to pop the question - among the forest of twinkling lights set to music in the canopy of Garden Lights, Holiday Nights at Atlanta Botanical Gardens. With Louis Armstrong crooning "A Kiss to Build a Dream On" in the background, Trey got down on one knee, and Scarlett was delighted to say, "yes"!
Trey and Scarlett felt they had room in their lives to make a difference for one more rescue pup. Right around their one-year anniversary, they drove to Florida to get Zihjuatenejo Beyonce' Opal Bradison (his friends call him Zih - pronounced Zee). Like Coco, Zih is a survivor of a breeder hoarding situation. He made their family complete.
Now, surrounded by the life they’ve built and the small, meaningful moments that brought them here, they’re excited to elope to New Orleans on December 13, 2026.
The date was chosen because Scarlett is celebrating 15 years as a breast cancer survivor this year, and December 13th marks both her diagnosis day and her cancer-free day. While Scarlett reclaimed the day as one for celebration long ago, choosing it as her wedding date feels like the ultimate step to fully embrace her journey. You can watch her tell her cancer story and hear her prayer for a husband, here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHsqupQc1bA). It seems Trey FINALLY got his GPS worked out to cross her path!
